The right waste bin depends less on the room and more on the property: a studio apartment, a five-bedroom villa and a busy restaurant need completely different set-ups. In the UAE heat, the wrong choice shows quickly, either as a bin that overflows or as waste that sits for days and smells. This guide walks through the best combination for each type of property, compares the bins in our Waste & Recycling collection from 20L to 240L, and explains the details that matter: lid type, weight, wheels and colour.
Know the four bin families
GEO push-top bins (20L to 60L)
The GEO range has a push-top swing lid that opens with a light push and closes on its own. The bins are made from UV-resistant polypropylene and are light, from 0.8 kg for the 20L GEO to 2.4 kg for the 60L GEO. They suit offices, corridors, balconies and patios, where people drop something in and walk on.
ROM pedal bins (30L to 100L)
ROM bins have a foot pedal and a reinforced lid and base, which help contain odours and resist warping. They are made from UV-resistant, recyclable polypropylene and come in black or grey. The 30L ROM weighs 1.55 kg, and the 100L ROM weighs 4.4 kg.
Keep-In pedal bins (15L to 30L)
Compact pedal bins for bathrooms, bedrooms and small kitchens. The 20L Keep-In measures 32.5 × 26.5 × 44 cm and weighs 1.1 kg.
Wheeled bins (100L to 240L)
Our wheeled bins are made from UV-resistant HDPE, have rear wheels and a foot pedal, and come in black, grey and green. The side-pedal models are lighter and more affordable; the central-pedal models are heavier and built for constant use.

Bins for an apartment
Space is the limit in most apartments, so measure the cabinet or corner before you choose. A typical set-up:
- Kitchen: a 30L ROM pedal bin for one or two people, or a 50L ROM for a family. The 50L needs a footprint of about 40 × 38 cm and room above its 56.8 cm height for the lid to open.
- Bathroom: a 15L or 20L Keep-In pedal bin beside the vanity.
- Balcony: a 20L GEO push-top bin. It is UV resistant and light enough to bring inside.
Most apartment buildings have a shared chute or bin room, so there is no need for a wheeled bin.
Bins for a villa or townhouse
Villas produce more waste and usually have to move it to a collection point outside the gate. That is where wheels pay off.
- Kitchen: a 50L or 80L ROM pedal bin, depending on how often you cook and how many people live in the house.
- Outdoor storage: a 120L side-pedal wheeled bin for a townhouse or average villa, or a 240L side-pedal bin for a large household, a majlis that hosts guests or a garden that produces green waste.
- Garden and pool: a 40L or 60L GEO push-top bin near the seating area.

Bins for a business
Offices and shops
Use GEO push-top bins where people pass quickly: 20L or 30L under desks and at counters, 60L in corridors and staff areas. Add an 80L or 100L ROM pedal bin in the pantry.
Restaurants, cafés and clinics
Hands-free opening matters most here. Use 80L or 100L ROM pedal bins in prep areas, and a 120L central-pedal bin for back-of-house. The central pedal and heavier body (8.8 kg, against 8.2 kg for the side-pedal 120L) are designed for bins opened many times a day.
Buildings, compounds, hotels and warehouses
The 240L central-pedal heavy-duty bin is our strongest 240L model at 14.6 kg. For lower traffic, the 240L side-pedal model does the same job at 10.8 kg and a lower price.
Side pedal or central pedal?
Both open the lid hands-free. A side pedal keeps the bin lighter and lower in price, which suits homes. A central pedal sits in the middle of the front and comes on the heavier, heavy-duty bodies, which suits commercial kitchens and shared bin rooms.
Tips for bins in the UAE heat
- Empty food waste every day in summer, whatever the bin size.
- Keep outdoor bins in the shade with the lid closed.
- Wash polypropylene and HDPE bins with water and mild soap, and let them dry before fitting a new liner.
- Do not oversize an indoor bin: if it takes a week to fill, it will smell before it is full.

How quickly can I get a bin delivered?
Orders placed before 3 PM are delivered the next day in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ajman, and in 2 to 3 days elsewhere in the UAE (no Sunday delivery). Delivery is free from AED 189 and AED 12 below that, and you can return an unused item within 7 days with free pickup.
