Plastic Storage Box Sizes Guide: Which Box for Clothes, Toys, Pantry and Moving (9L to 180L)

Buying a plastic storage box online is easy until you have to guess the size. A box that looks big in a photo can be too shallow for folded jumpers, and a "large" box may not slide under your bed. This guide explains what each size from 9L to 180L really holds, with the measurements and prices of the boxes we stock in our Dubai warehouse, so you can pick the right box for clothes, toys, pantry items or a house move in the UAE.

How to read storage box sizes

Storage boxes are sold by capacity in litres (L), but the outside measurements matter just as much. Before you order, check three things.

Litres tell you volume, not shape

Two boxes can both hold 35L and still be very different: the 35L Super Clear PET box is 46.5 × 34.5 × 26.5 cm and fits a shelf, while the 35L underbed box is 79 × 39 × 16 cm and is made to slide under a bed.

Measure the space first

Measure the width, depth and height of the shelf, wardrobe or gap under the bed, then leave about 2 cm spare on each side so the box goes in and out easily. For underbed boxes, measure the clearance from the floor to the bed frame.

Clear or solid

Clear boxes let you see what is inside without opening them, which is useful for toys, shoes and pantry stock. White heavy-duty boxes hide the contents and suit storerooms, garages and moving.

Which box for clothes

For folded clothes on a wardrobe shelf, the 25L and 35L Super Clear PET boxes work well. They are made from high-clarity PET, the lids close with side-locking handles and the flat lids let you stack them. A 25L box takes a stack of T-shirts or children's clothes; a 35L box is better for jumpers, abayas folded flat or a set of bed sheets.

For seasonal clothes you only need a few times a year, use the space under the bed. The 35L underbed box is 16 cm high, and the 54L and 66L slim underbed boxes have wheels, so you can pull them out without lifting.

Which box for toys and kids' rooms

Children need to see and reach their toys. The 16L clear box with wheels (38 × 28 × 23 cm) rolls along the floor, so children can pull it out themselves. For Lego, cars or puzzles, the 10L and 15L Super Clear boxes keep each set separate, and the clear sides make tidying up quicker because everyone can see where things go.

A simple kids' room set-up

• One 16L wheeled box per toy type on the floor.
• 10L or 15L clear boxes on a low shelf for small pieces.
• One 35L underbed box for clothes they have outgrown.

Which box for the pantry and kitchen

In UAE kitchens the pantry is often a small cupboard, so measure the shelf depth before choosing. The 10L and 15L Super Clear PET boxes are a good fit for snacks, tea, baking supplies and spare spices, and the clear PET lets you check stock before you go shopping. Use the 9L box with lid and handle for cleaning cloths and dishwasher tablets under the sink.

Which box for moving house or a storeroom

For a move, choose a few large, strong boxes rather than many small ones. The 135L large storage box (71 × 52 × 44 cm, 3 kg) and the 180L heavy-duty box (80 × 58.5 × 51 cm, 4 kg) are made from recyclable polypropylene, have lids with snap-lock handles and wheels, and stack in a storeroom or garage after the move.

Packing tips

• Put heavy items such as books in smaller boxes and light items such as pillows in the 135L or 180L boxes.
• Label each box on two sides so you can read it when the boxes are stacked.
• Keep one clear box for the things you need on the first night: chargers, toiletries and documents.

Delivery, payment and returns

Delivery is free on orders from AED 189 (AED 12 below that). Orders placed before 3 PM are delivered the next day in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ajman, and in 2–3 days to the other emirates; there is no delivery on Sundays. For a wardrobe shelf, a 25L or 35L box suits most folded clothes. For seasonal clothes under the bed, choose a 35L, 54L or 66L underbed box and check the height under your bed first.

Will an underbed storage box fit under my bed?

Our underbed boxes are 16–17 cm high. Measure the gap between the floor and the bed frame; if it is at least 18 cm, they will slide in.

Are the storage boxes stackable?
